Back in August of this year, we were fortunate enough to enjoy our first staycation at the wonderful Four Seasons Jakarta. We loved it so much, we penned an article about the 5 reasons why everyone should do the same.

This December, we knew we had to come back and experience the festive season—the month of our favourite holiday, Christmas, and the most wonderful time of the year—in spectacular Four Season’s style.  And since the festive season is all about cherishing time with loved ones, we flew in our little sister and mom from Bali so they could join in on the fun.

The second you walk into the hotel, the Christmas vibes are on full display. Columns are decorated in green garland and red bows, and there’s one thing you truly can’t miss! The 30-foot fully decorated Christmas tree. There’s really nothing you can do but stare in awe.

This time around, we enjoyed a 3-night stay at the ultra exclusive Ambassador’s Suite. Perched strategically on the 19th floor, the Ambassador Suite is simply a dream brought to life. Every inch of the 195-square-metres (2,099-square-feet) space is a work of art, and a sight to behold.

Let me just say this; I wouldn’t exactly call it a little ‘ol suite, it’s more like an apartment of epic proportions. An apartment designed exactly the way you would like it to be—complete with a grand foyer, guest bathroom, dining room that seats 8, spacious living room that seats 10, master bedroom (by the way, a chandelier in every room) and even your own fully-equipped kitchen.

Shall I continue? The level of oppulence doesn’t stop there. Indulge in breathtaking hand-selected Indonesian artwork, state-of-the-art technology, and make-your-own cocktail set all ready for you as you enter. And to make Christmas vibes even more well and alive, upon room arrival, each guest is greeted with an adorable display of Christmas treats that include gingerbread cookies, chocolate-shaped Christmas tree and candy canes. If that doesn’t get you in the Christmas spirit, I don’t know what will!

In addition, one of my favorite rooms in the Suite has got to be the sun-lit master bathroom. Beautiful Italian marble floors and walls are the first thing you notice. The next thing you notice is the chic walk-in shower with two shower heads (rainforest and regular). And the best part? The deep soaking white tub that sits window-side. Yes, window-side. You know what that means. Since it’s positioned directly right next to large windows, this allows for direct access to natural sunlight, which makes for awesome Insta-worthy bathtub photos. ;) (Only Instagram junkies will understand.)

I took full advantage of this and made myself a flower bath, accompanied by a glass of rosé, and a good book—absolutely obligatory during any staycation, no?

Like everything under the Four Season’s name, the Ambassador’s Suite is designed, carefully selected, and thought of to perfection.

When we weren’t spending time in the comforts of our Suite, we were dining at the many restaurants Four Seasons Jakarta offer. Our all-time favorite dish is still the LOBSTER LAKSA at Palm Court. Everyone, from family to friends, agrees that this is a must-try. Utterly too good to be true!

We also had the opportunity to try  the recently opened, Alto. Four Seasons opened the doors of their 5th dining entity just last month, but guest are already raving about it. Located on the 20th floor, the Italian restaurant is impeccably designed and decorated in a fine tune of bold colors and sensuous textures. The food, exclusively created by Italian executive chef, Marco Riva, is another example of the level of luxury Four Seasons stands for. Order The Fiorentina, a 1-kg T-bon steak (for sharing of course :P) that will knock your socks off.

Fast proving to be another Four Seasons Jakarta gem, the restaurant is also equipped with a stylish outdoor terrace overlooking stunning views of the city. Here, my family and I took in the views and sipped cocktails before dinner. Try the chocolate martini, delicious.

It goes without saying, we yet again had a truly unforgettable stay. The staff’s one-of-a-kind warm hospitality of course is one of the reasons that make every stay so special, by now they honestly feel like family and friends!

Out of all the gifts we received from our stay here, one means the most to me.  The essence of the holiday season is about spending quality time with the ones you cherish the most. It’s a time to reflect back at the year you had, and an opportunity to give thanks at all that has happened whether goor or bad. During our stay, my family and I were able to create long-lasting memories together that will be treasured for years to come. This means more than anything.

And with that, Maria and I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year! Spend time with your loved ones…and don’t forget to tell them you love them.
