Luang Prabang, Laos

Laos is truly an underrated part of Southeast Asia. It is a country rich in culture, the people are warm, and the landscape is beautiful. We traveled to Laos for the very first time with a group of friends and stayed at the lovely Avani+ Luang Prabang

Luang Prabang is the capital of its namesake province in northern Laos. It’s a popular destination with tourists for its cultural and architectural charm. The hotel is located right in the center of it all. Because of its strategic location, it’s literally a stone’s throw away from so many things! The night market, several temples, historical sites, the Mekong River, popular restaurants and French bakeries are all in close proximity.

We absolutely loved our stay here. The design of the hotel is a gorgeous mix of classic-contemporary with French roots. The use of teak wood throughout the hotel (something you’ll find pretty much everywhere) and creamy soft furnishings successfully give the place a warm and peaceful ambience. The rooms are a good size, cozy, and are very comfortable to stay in. The fact that Avani+ Luang Prabang Hotel maintains a single-use plastic ban is a big bonus. The cherry on top was that our room overlooked the beautiful outdoor pool. Out of the 53 rooms, we had the best view of the entire hotel in my opinion! Perfect for those high-level pool shots. :)

In addition to an outdoor pool, Avani+ Luang Prabang Hotel provides a fitness center and complimentary bicycles for guests. Please take advantage of the bikes! They’re very convenient for those strolls around town to explore with, something I highly suggest. Another thing not to be missed is the hotel’s restaurant that we were all very impressed with: Main Street Bar and Grill. The breakfast is excellent and the dinner menu is even better! This restaurant offers the best of Lao and French cuisine. Everything we ordered was amazing! Since buffalo is a delicacy of Luang Prabang, don’t forget to have a try of their buffalo dishes.

First time visitors to Luang Prabang could not be better placed at this intimate and homey hotel.
