Raise your hand if you think lipsticks are a girl’s best friend. What’s not to love? Give a girl the right lipstick and she has the power to single-handedly revamp any look from boring to captivating in exactly 3.5 seconds.
But there’s one problem: They come in a million different shades, textures and finishes—trial and error misery—in most cases causing serious anxiety. Needles to say, just like hunting for the perfect man, it’s not exactly the easiest task in the world (OK, maybe they’re slightly different…but you know what we mean). Not to worry, we’ve compiled for you a list of our current top 5 must-have lipsticks we think you should own!
1. Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick – Fiery
Before we begin, just a quick intro to liquid lipsticks for those who are unfamiliar. Liquid lipsticks are godsend formulas that are incredibly pigmented with phenomenal longevity and lasting power, completely revolutionizing how we wear lipstick. Let’s just be clear about one thing—you need these in your life.
Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick is a joy to wear. The application is one of the best we’ve ever tried! The product glides on so effortlessly—almost like a gloss—but then dries down to an ultra-matte finish. Fiery is an exceptionally gorgeous color suitable for any skin tone and is very classic (Elizabeth is wearing this color above!). A dramatic deep red with a bit of a berry undertone, we can’t stop gushing about it. Another reason why we love it is because it’s super light weight so your lips don’t dry out and you barely feel like you’re wearing anything! To top it all off, they smell amazing.
2. Sleek Matte Me – Birthday Suit
This is hands down our number one go-to nude lipstick. A liquid lipstick with an amazing brownish/pinkish color! It’s considered to be a part of the nude family but still has some color, therefore doesn’t wash out your complexion. If you want that Kylie Jenner plump lip effect, this is the one to grab. So popular it’s almost always sold out! With it’s matte finish, Birthday Suit lasts for hours and hardly needs any reapplying. One thing we have to note is that it is slightly drying compared to Stila liquid lipsticks, so we suggest you apply a tiny bit of lip balm before applying.
3. Misslyn – Rouge à Lèvres
VA VA VOOM. Creamy, beautiful dark wine color and just the right amount of shine. Dab this shade to vamp up your look in a major way. Wear it to date night or drinks with your girlfriends—you’ll stand out, guaranteed. This non-matte lipstick is such a bargain! We bought this in Europe for only € 3 (approximately IDR 45.000.) and is one of the best deals you can find. FYI, you can now buy Misslyn products at your local department store so no need to cross the pond to get your hands on these.
4. Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick – Aria
If you’re in the mood to experiment and stray away from the conventional, Aria is perfect. Truthfully speaking, at first we didn’t know what to think of it, because come on, it’s…purple. And although purple can be frightening, it’s the most charming shade of purple you will ever see (think violet meets mulberry, meets grape). And since it is a liquid lipstick, it dries to a luscious matte finish and lasts for up to 6-hours.
5. Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick – Veronica
Mauve matte magic. We can’t gush enough about this muted, brownish pink tone—it’s even known to be a favorite among the Kardashian sisters. Anastasia Beverly Hills liquid lipsticks are already a cult favorite. The application is nearly flawless, and stays on really well. The difference between Veronica and Sleek Matte Me’s Birthday Suit is that Veronica has a deeper brownish tone to it. Although, it should be noted that lipsticks look differently when applied to different skin tones. For example, when applied to us, the shade goes towards a light maroonish brown.
There you have it, the top 5 lipsticks we think you should at least try! What did you think? What’s your favorite lipstick? Do you think we left any important ones out of the list? Leave your comments below, we want to know your thoughts!
