We’re super excited to share with you the brilliant experience we had and all the magic we encountered at Universal Studios Japan™️!

Being kiddos at heart, Maria, Patricia, and I had the most amazing time. It was Patricia’s second visit, but a first for Maria and I. Surrounded by our favorite cartoon characters running past, roller coasters whizzing overhead, and cheery music in the air, you could not wipe the smiles off our faces!!

The enormous park is divided into 8 areas: Hollywood, New York, Universal Wonderland, San Francisco, Amity Village, Minion Park, Jurassic Park and of course The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™️. You can download the Studio Map here. There’s a lot to cover, but some of our personal favorite attractions are:

  1. The Flying Dinosaur (roller coaster)
  2. Hollywood Dreams The Ride (roller coaster)
  3. Despicable Me Minion Mayhem (ride)
  4. Jurassic Park The Ride
  5. Spiderman The Ride
  6. Pretty much EVERY SINGLE THING in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™️

Walking through Minion Park was so much fun! We ate banana flavoured popcorn and couldn’t get enough of the Minion ice cream sandwiches. And don’t even get me started with The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™️. I mean, come on!! It honestly doesn’t get any better than drinking butter beer at Hogwarts. The Harry Potter geeks in us were freaking out the whole time!! It was so magical we decided to dedicate one whole blog post on it…stay tuned. Speaking of food and beverages, don’t forget to check out the many food stalls and restaurants sprinkled across the park. For dinner we stopped by the Happiness Cafe to eat…what else, Minion burgers!

One of the best things about Universal Studios Japan™️ is that the park reinvents itself with new features and shows all the time. The latest addition is the brand new “Universal Spectacle Night Parade – Best of Hollywood”. 15 floats, 100 performers, music, and special effects along the 600-meter route. The parade, which starts at 9PM, will transport you to the action and thrills of your favorite Hollywood films: Harry Potter, Transformers, Jurassic World, and Minions! Unfortunately when we visited, it pretty much rained the whole day so the parade was canceled. But you guys can definitely still check it out–just make sure to check the weather forecaster beforehand.

We easily booked our tickets via KKDay, an e-commerce travel platform that connects travelers with authentic local tours & activities. By buying the tickets in advance, we really saved a lot of queuing time. No need to wait in line for an entrance ticket. Just book, print, and you’re good to go! Literally no hassle. And, If you have the budget, our advice is to purchase the ‘Express Pass’ to skip the countless long queues for rides. It’s pricey, but you’ll save hours of time.

How to get there:

Take the JR Loop Line from Osaka city, stopover at Nishikujō Station, take the JR Sakurajima Line and get off at Universal City Station, from here it’s a 3-minute walk to Universal Studios Japan™️.
